Bridge to Brisbane
On Sunday morning I will be joining thousands of other people jamming one lane of Brisbane's Gateway Bridge as we make our way to New Farm Park.
No, it's not protest march lamenting the demise of Friends. It's the annual Bridge to Brisbane charity run for the benefit (this year) of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association of Queensland.
Ging was the instigator of this philanthropy, but I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been on a fun run in years. We're only doing the 4.25km run instead of the 12km, and I've just looked at the map and we won't be running over the bridge after all. Bummer.
A heart-stopping breakfast and coffee in New Farm afterwards is going to taste mighty fine.

It's on Sunday, Mary - Chris is a 'ring-in' w my work croonies... Our team is called 'Four Men and a Little Lazy' [you can guess which is my role ;-)]... Chris and I still debating whether to 'beer carton lederhosen' it up, or go the furry pants and bra... I think Chris is quite keen to don his velvet dress again, though, so who knows what the day will hold... We hope to a) finish and b) get on the news...

Why not run the whole 12km (not even 'real' miles) ? I remember the days when you'd run 12km with 60lbs of newspapers hanging round your neck and a couple of dogs chasing you at 5am.

And thankfully, Nick, those days are long past. My knees are heading towards the same condition as yours! Although I would have liked to run over the bridge.
This way I get to call it exercise without actually straining myself and justify the grease I'll eat at the dirty caff afterwards.

"Fun" and "run" do not belong in the same sentence. Unless perhaps "It is not fun to run." Or "Let's have fun; on second thought, lets run instead."
