Australia Takes On Terrorism

In a new videotape Al-Qaeda threatens Australia and warns of impending attacks on Melbourne. Although some experts believe the tape is not to be taken seriously, and was issued to coincide with the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The videotape comes days after the Australian government announced new anti-terrorism programs which include laws allowing detention for 14 days without charge and for Australian Federal Police to impose control orders to limit travel for some people and whom they associate with. Some called the measures, quite reasonable but I'm not sure the police need the extra power.

Australia to fund students who miss out in rush

UK students who are unable to gain a place in the school of their choice will soon be lured to Down Under alternatives who offer similar programming at less expensive or equal prices. With student bodies already comprised of one-fourth international students, scholarships are sure to draw even more overseas scholars who are viewed as cash cows for the universities and the cities they live in.
