Is he serious?
Australian Prime Minister John Howard has ruled out supporting gay marriages because they were incompatible with an institution designed to ensure "the survival of the species".
Howard makes stand against gay marriages
I just cannot understand the reasoning. Survival of the species? Come off it, Johnny. I think the species has been keeping itself going outside of the institution of marriage for some time.
If he wants to make a stand against gay marriages, then that's his right, but please do not insult our intelligence, or make yourself look so stupid with excuses like this.
Perhaps this will prompt another response like this one:

Survival of the species ( as if humans weren't 'doin it' before marriage was invented ), 'Australia could be saved from a horrific terrorist attack through its close alliance with the US' ha, ha, ha.....that's the best way to get attacked.
This guy definitely is the right guy to be a bureaucrat.

Why not use the most primative explanation to explain why something does not make sense. Why confuse the children????

This whole gay marriage thing is just more pc bullshit if you ask me. The government is supporting it here in the UK, so that gay couples will get the same tax breaks, and benefits after somebody dies as married couples currently do.
But unmarried hetrosexual couples aren't included.
