Tourism has an impact on everyone in Vanuatu, either directly or indirectly. As we enter the year of tourism, the industry asks us to think, talk and plan for tourism.From Minding everybody's businessA new breed of backpackers may soon be joining the romantic couples and snorkel-seeking families that have traditionally bulked up the tourist market in Vanuatu. Once pegged as long-haired, sandal wearing, shoestring-budget travellers trying to make their way across vast tracts of land and sea on six dollars a day, the definition of the humble backpacker is evolving into a broad category of travellers seeking to immerse themselves in local cultures.
