What a great word!
It's a well known fact that I'm a 'little' obsessed with linguistics and what-not, so a friend of mine recommended the 'A Word A Day' website, where, not so surprisingly (amongst other things), they send you a word a day. To make it fun, said friend and his friend have this thing where they have to make a sentence out of each one... I joined the party, and while we've not maintained this everyday, it's a great way to learn new words, and not just learn them and know how to spell them, but know how to actually apply them. Today's word begged to be shared with the world:
crapulent (KRAP-yuh-luhnt) adjective
Sick from excessive drinking or eating.
[From Late Latin crapulentus (very drunk), from Latin crapula (drunkenness),
from Greek kraipal (hangover, drunkenness).]
"A doctor examining one of his more crapulent patients said to him,
'Your body is a temple and your congregation is too large.'"
Dale Turner; Guarding Our Health Lets Us Better Serve in Role God
Intended; The Seattle Times; Apr 26, 2003.
"1975: Ever in search of new dining experiences, Vancouverites get
crapulent on goblets of beer and fat drumsticks at the Mediaeval Inn."
Liz Hodgson; The Curve Theme Restaurants; Vancouver Sun (Canada);
Feb 26, 2000.
Methinks the Ging is a tad crapulent at times too!!!!

That joke's not half as bad as the stuff Chris comes out with! And I won't even go into our punning conversation last night!!!
FTR, I am now to be dubbed the crapulent queen of the East...
