Disco Baroque
By Heather | Permalink | No Comments | February 22nd, 2007 | Trackback27th February - 30th March the University of Technology in Sydney is hosting Disco Baroque. The exhibit is described as “a kaleidoscopic synaesthesic experience, a vertiginous rollercoaster ride through the mirrorball realm of glitter and shine.” Now how can you resist that!
Six Australian and international artists engage with contemporary notions relating to the disco culture of the 1970’s merged with the ideas of the historical Baroque period. Disco Baroque is a collision of opulence and decadence cut up with contemporary anxieties provoked by increasing technological change. Hosted in the UTS Gallery
Eleanor Avery, James Avery, Luis Nobre, Giles Ryder, Johannes Vogl, Phil Williams
