Australia Takes On Terrorism
By Court | Permalink | 1 comment | October 10th, 2005 | TrackbackIn a new videotape Al-Qaeda threatens Australia and warns of impending attacks on Melbourne. Although some experts believe the tape is not to be taken seriously, and was issued to coincide with the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The videotape comes days after the Australian government announced new anti-terrorism programs which include laws allowing detention for 14 days without charge and for Australian Federal Police to impose control orders to limit travel for some people and whom they associate with. Some called the measures, quite reasonable but I’m not sure the police need the extra power.
