Sydney Cricket Test vs. India: Howzat!
After missing the results of the first two test cricket matches between Australia and India (a draw and an Indian win), Sean and I have really been getting into the third test currently being played in Melbourne. The Boxing Day test is a great tradition and at the end of the third day (out of five), Australia is in a strong position to level the series and make the fourth test in Sydney next week into a significant game for captain Steve “Tugger” Waugh to retire in.

Time to Get Away
Virgin Blue is holding a fare sale this week for flights taking off next year.
Sale ends midnight Wednesday Nov 5, or when all tickets are sold, whichever comes first.

Homeward Bound

Final Countdown
Coming down to the last couple of hours before I leave for the airport. Just about fully packed (besides the laptop) and I don’t think I’ve forgotten to do/pack anything (touch wood).
My backpack is looking pretty full, but I will be able to dump some stuff off in Melbourne, and I really could have done a much better job of packing it. Not packing too many clothes since everyone in my family knows they’re getting something cheap and crappy from Bali for Christmas.

Workin' on the Land
For some reason I thought that heading out to my brother’s house in Kingaroy would be a relaxing weekend, watching some rugby, drinking a few beers, hanging out with my nephews and niece. What I didn’t think about was that he lives on 5 acres and, in my brother’s words, living on that much land is “90% maintenance”. For example, it takes him three hours to mow the lawn and the majority of his land is not lawn.
Throw in a freak windstorm that knocked over about a half dozen trees (entire trees) and countless branches and you’ve got a nice little project to get your teeth into.

Schoolies in Hostels
My pops, Dave, does a lot of customer service for BootsnAll since we hired him a few months ago. Today, at breakkie he told me about a 17 year old Aussie that wanted to stay in an Airlie Beach Hostel that we have on our site. The young man was wondering if he could stay at a hostel on his own despite being 17.
Here is one of the e-mails he received back from a Hostel Manager:
“Hi Dave- sorry but we are a very small hostel and we do not take schoolies.
Kind regards”
