Daily Dose: Happy Melbourne Cup Day!
The Race that stops the Nation! The Aussies are mad about their horse racing and today is the crowning glory of the Racing Season- The Melbourne Cup. Fashion, Glamour, Champers (Champagne), Stunning Horses, Lush Grounds, and the primitive pounding of the hooves all get right to the soul of the punters (folks who are out to “try their luck” or are “along for the ride”) all around Oz. It makes for a fabulously fun day and indeed many days for some people.
Victoria gets today as an extra Statewide Holiday- but the rest of us are stuck working away wishing, just for today, that we lived in Melbourne. However- all is not lost! Most work places will have a lunch and a Television to watch the GG’s run (horses) or unofficially let everyone go to lunch and not really expect them back afterwards.

Make some quick $$ and extend your Visa! It is Harvest Time!
Summer is the time of year for harvest work! If you have a tax file number, bank account, and at least the temporary right to work in OZ- Harvest Work is a great way to get a ‘fair dinkum’ (real) Aussie experience. There are several benefits to harvest work.
For one- the idea of a bunch of lawyers and accountants wearing cowboy hats and picking pumpkins cracks me up. Aside from my own personal entertainment- since November 2005 visitors with working holiday visas can get a one year extension by working on a farm! So if you were facing having to go back to dreary old England, picking a few apples for a couple months doesn’t sound so bad does it!

Tuffles Galore! Kirribilli and Cafe Luigi
Want to eat brekkie with the Prime Minister? Kirribilli is the home of the Prime Minister’s Sydney residence and is a funky little suburb with massive views. Basically built underneath the Harbour bridge- it is a darling tree lined place with fantastic markets and many fabulous tiny little eateries. Get ready to get cozy with your neighbor.
Café’ Luigi is only one of the many places to eat, but a definite stand out. Their breakfast blew my sock off! Not literally I think I was wearing sandals- but you get my meaning. Their food was mouth-wateringly attractive as I walked by and was only considering whether to get breakfast in Kirribilli or head back home to Manly for a little Barking Frog action, when I came to a screeching halt and found myself already sitting in a chair.

City Hopper- All day trains between Central, Martin Place, Museum, Town Hall, and the main CBD (Downtown) area.

Byron Bay Art Work Shop is offering many different 3 day workshops running for the next 6 months or so. They state All Levels of experience welcomed Art tuition with renowned artists and TAFE teachers Contemporary, Traditional, Technical and PLAYFUL “If you can pick up a brush you can paint !” The classes run 9-4 daily. For a bit of flexibility- several of the workshops can be attended for only one day.
