Brisbane River Festival 2004

If you’re wandering down by the Brisbane River this Sunday afternoon towards West End you’ll no doubt see the more than 20,000 rubber duckies battling it out for victory as part of the Great Brisbane Duck Race. The winner earns the owner a brand new car, and some poor bastard will have to fish the rest out of the water.

River Festival is back again and there’s so much stuff going on there’s no way to see it all. Instead, check out the website and pick & choose your poison. There’s eating, debating, running, and cleaning, concerts, cruises, and fireworks.

With some luck I’ll be sipping some fine cocktails from the balcony of a riverside apartment on Saturday as the RiverFire fireworks display culminates with a couple of RAAF F-111’s ‘dump and burn’ up the river.
