April 09, 2004Aussie Charge at the MastersI've just noticed that what I had posted here about the Aussie charge at the Masters mysteriously disappeared. Oh well, stuff like that happens occasionally and there's naught to be done about it. Same could be said for the Aussie charge really. Most players missed the cut for the final day's play and the best of the lot was a player most probably regarded as having the least chance - Stuart Appleby, who finished at +2. Oh well, he can say he hit the ball as well as Tiger Woods. Email this page to a friendAustralia Blog is part of the BootsnAll Travel Network. You aussies love cutting down a champ like Tiger... Come on now - Tiger has more majors (8) than all Aussies in History combined (I think - Norman 2 - and a few other randoms) having said that - he is not playing is best golf... Posted by: Sean on April 15, 2004 05:48 AMNot cutting him down at all, just putting everyone else's round in perspective. Posted by: Chris on April 15, 2004 08:59 AMOooh, a catfight in the ranks... "You yankies" [just to generalise as you have us, though I suspect you're right about our 'tall poppy syndrome' nature] are so precious... p'aps it's cos Aussies do so well in 'most' sports and to make a jibe at a bloke who actually has done well just erks you! But fear not, we do it to our own - current eg. Craig Stevens - all he did was win a race, and, let's face it, the Thorpedo fucked up... now the nation despises him! I say swim Craig - you earnt your spot; you may lose, but go for it! Rules/conditions apply to all - I don't even understand why Thorpie is being given a second chance! Next will it be like 'you Poms' who put 'all they've got' into one-man-shows like Jonny, Tim Henman [oh dear!] and dare I say, Becks, and w'hell, given the current headlines, is that a man to claim a national hero... Okay, I may be right out of my league commenting on US sportsmen/women - in fact, I am; I don't know that many... maybe that's cos they're aren't any... he he he... Perhaps we aussies are simply arrogant when it comes to sport... but, as I said, we knock our own too... Competitive-for-the-hellovit-Ging [cos i'm an aussie, that's what we do best!] Posted by: Ging on April 16, 2004 10:12 AMPost a comment
