Sydney Cricket Test vs. India: Howzat!

After missing the results of the first two test cricket matches between Australia and India (a draw and an Indian win), Sean and I have really been getting into the third test currently being played in Melbourne. The Boxing Day test is a great tradition and at the end of the third day (out of five), Australia is in a strong position to level the series and make the fourth test in Sydney next week into a significant game for captain Steve "Tugger" Waugh to retire in.

This evening we booked our tickets for Day 3 of the test and if it's tight by Day 4 we might buy tickets to that game as well. It should be a packed house and an incredible atmosphere to say farewell to the world's most successful cricket captain. Melbourne gave him a standing ovation today as he came out to bat and no doubt Sydney will do the same and more.

Sean is definitely immersing himself in the sport and as someone who has grown up with the game it's refreshing for me to hear his perspective and questions. We're both stoked to be participating in a memorable occasion and I'm sure we'll get over the fact that we could only get seats in the alcohol-free seats.

'Alcohol free seats'....I didn't know they had tee-tottler seats as well as seats that got pissed!.

Pity about Steve's elbow, but in usual Oz bravado he batted on eventually.

I reckon the selectors should bring back Brad Hogg and get rid of McGill and of course Williams.

How do the "ballpark franks" at Cricket Matches compare to those at Wrigley Field or Comiskey?

I am loving the Cricket. Seeing the Ashes in 1994 got me to appreciate the sport, but thise time round I am loving the strategy and just how long the sport goes.

WWM: Not sure about the franks - will let you know...it'll be tough to beat the $1.85 Batting Practive dawgs at Wrigley though!

Good on ya Sean. I'm trying to learn the rules of cricket, which seem fairly simple, but without a game to watch, it is still fairly abstract. I could PPV a match, but 50 bucks is a 2 day budget for my SE Asia trip, so I guess I'll wait.

Nothing will *ever* be better than the batting practice dogs, because no stadium will *ever* be better than Wrigley. New Comiskey sucks -- if the Swiss built a baseball stadium, it would look like New Comiskey -- utterly efficient, utterly soulless.

Did I just slam Switzerland? Oops. No offense intended.

I watched in on telly whenever I could, there was a telly installed in the news room in our office. Yep, Aus did play well.... will miss seeing Waugh in action - wish he had not retired.. cricket is religion back home in India
