September 02, 2003Back in BrisVegasBack home again after a short trip to Thailand. Going on about 24 hours without sleep so hallucinations may shortly follow. Have to give a big thumbs up to Singapore Airlines though. They treat you very well and the entertainment is the best I've seen. Personal TV screens on every seat, on-demand movies (14 channels), TV shows, big audio selection and Nintendo games to keep the kids (big ones included) happy for hours. And on a side note, what's up with confiscating my tweezers and nail scissors at the airport when on the plane they give me a metal knife and fork? Comments
Obviously the Australian government is more serious about terrorism than Singapore. On a recent trip to Cairns the security all but pulled apart an umbrella I had. I didnt know they are considered lethal weapons. Posted by: Toby on September 2, 2003 08:41 PMChris, welcome back/'home' - is this home? For now I guess... Have you not had personal screen/on-demand movies before? Still, I do like tha 'pore, and JAL and Malaysian Airlines, must be that Asian precision/meticulousness! Hmmm, did that come across as a broad 'cultural generalisation'? Ya know what a mean sure y'do... And, um, you have nail scissors and tweezers? Okaaaaaaaaaaay... Posted by: Ging on September 3, 2003 08:07 AMToby, obviously you've never seen those old Batman TV shows where the Penguin kicks major arse with his umbrella. Ging, I make no apologies for my personal hygiene. And I'm so friggin' clumsy the tweezers come in handy pulling foreign objects out of my skin. Seriously though, I've had both those items in my toiletry bag for bloody ages. It didn't even occur to me that they were in there. Posted by: Chris on September 3, 2003 11:45 PMManicure and eybrow wax for you for christmas, then it is... ;-) Don't forget to drop the 'old fella'in some disinfectent for 24 hours. Posted by: Chris on September 7, 2003 06:22 AMUmbrella - cane, it doesn't matter... I know some awsome Hapkido cane techniques that are applicable for offense as well as defense.
