Remote blacks get travel aid for study
INDIGENOUS students from remote communities will secure taxpayer-funded support to study at private schools and universities. From Remote blacks get travel aid for studyAn estimated $500million, including an extension of a program that rewards school attendance with money for recreational facilities, will be spent improving the results of Aboriginal students.
Scholarships will also be offered to 250 students to attend high-performing schools and universities.
I'm glad to see this - I often describe Australia as a country that seems like it's 50 years behind the times in terms of racial acceptance. Hopefully this will break down the barriers a little more by offering opportunities to Aboriginal students.
