Australasia: No airline allows 104 yr Chinese woman to travel; Australia issues visa

The Australian government granted permanent residency Tuesday to a 104-year-old Chinese woman who theoretically faced deportation after losing a last legal appeal for a visa.

In a late-night statement, Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone said she had exercised her discretionary powers to grant a visa to Cui Yu Hu "as my department had always intended."
